I have organised an event to raise awareness towards Men's Mental Health, this is very personal to myself after loosing my twin brother Daniel Dench, and I suffer with grief, guilt and depression.
Since 2013 my family and friends have teamed together to remember Daniel by supporting charities such as SUDEP, and most recently Support Dogs, raising well over £18,000 to fund a seizure awareness dog, we also had the opportunity to name the puppy 'Dan' and he is doing incredibly well.
Although this has kept Daniel well within our hearts, I learnt to 'Deal with it' but doing this I isolated myself even further from others.
I reached out to StrongMen, a charity that supports men who have suffered bereavement, grief, loss, anxiety, depression and extreme cases PTSD, and luckily I have been offered a place in April 2020, with this to look forward to, I want to give a little a back. I want create an evening where men can come together and listen to the directors of StrongMen and have a bit of giggle too.
What happens after the evening, well hopefully everyone has had a great night and will remember some wise words, they will also have a passport from our table sponsors - each table will be twinned with a charity or support group that is local, within these passports are all the details for when these men need them. All monies raised will be split between the 10 chosen charities and StrongMen.
I've tried to keep it simple, after all men don't need much to have a good night out.
Thank you for taking the time to consider the event, if you would like to donate a raffle prize, sponsor towards a table or purchase tickets please contact the club or Mike Dench
